The Human Camera

briefing published on 04-08-2011 by in Briefings

Do you know the story of the "Human Camera"? That is the nickname of Stephen Wiltshire, an architectural artist who has been diagnosed with autism. As numeral autistic persons, he developed particular faculties which served his addiction: creation (he studied Fine Art at City & Guilds Art College). He is known for his ability to draw a landscape or a whole city after seeing it just once, with a fascinating similitude.

He already reproduced architectural details of Rome, Hong-Kong, Sydney, Tokyo, Madrid, Jerusalem or New-York. Recently he came back to the "Big Apple" to create a 250ft (76 meters) panoramic drawing for an advertising campaign for the Swiss bank UBS. The result is now displayed on a giant billboard at JFK airport.

Check out the video of his last performance, it's very impressive! (more videos on his website)
