Your trip in one sentence
Eye opening, heart warming and captivating

Why did you travel there ?
I've always been fascinated by the country after reading about it from National Geography. And its one of the few countries left in the world relatively untouched by time. (not mentioning raunchy tourists)

How did you get there ?
Flew in from Malaysia

Where did you sleep ?
Stayed over at a local friends place.

What was the biggest cultural shock ?
After reading up on the country's chequered history and current political situation, i was really surprised to find how people are really friendly and hospitable.

Tell us a story that happened to you there
I was taken to the night market by my local friend and i was fascinated by the wide spread of street food available. I remember walking by one stall selling different varieties of glutionous rice, i show a very curious face and the vendor took a small piece of each flavour and asked me to try it. I accepted it and told her in the Burmese (a phrase that i learned earlier on that day) and she smiled. So a small display of curiosity and enthusiasm went a long way in learning alot during that trip.

What did you do at night ?
Walk around the night markets available and trying new food.

What were your cultural activities ?
Visiting Shwedagon Pagoda's and the parks around Yangon

Your favourite local word ?
Jeh-Zu- Thim- Ba-Deh (means thank you)

Your favourite local food ?
Mohinga and Lahpet

Your favourite place ?
Shwedagon Pagoda, China town night market

Will you go again ?
I would love to!
