Kaser Mandl après-ski bar

In Austria, après-ski refers to going out, having drinks, dancing, and meeting new people (sometimes charming) after skiing. Skiers and snowboarders stop at bars before going to their accommodation (back from the slopes), still wearing all their ski/ snowboard clothes.

Kaser Mandl après-ski bar is located in the Tux Valley : Small bar, young and old people, families, friendly and convivial. The owner is Dj-Mox, a fantastic Austrian man who plays music in his bar between 3pm and 6pm, with typical Austrian and Tyrolean songs, and who likes singing in his mike, talking to people, making people dancing or singing. Very funny and unforgettable moments guaranteed!

Apothéke (The Chemist)

One of my favorite nightlife scenes in this city can be found at Apothéke*. It\'s a small club hidden in the middle of a small alley in the middle of Chinatown in Manhattan. You might not even notice it but for the bouncer outside. When you walk inside, you are immediately greeted by a small prohibition-era style room with couches against the walls, occasional tables, and a friendly (and free!) coat check. It\'s a short walk towards the marble slab bar, where bartenders (excuse me, mixologists) in white lab coats await you with a list of \"prescriptions\" whose ingredients are seasonal, local, and in some cases, even handpicked from their garden. My personal favorite is the blood orange bourbon sour, a deceivingly potent intoxicant given that it tastes like, well, a blood orange. Don\'t expect the menu to be cheap, though, as this spot can run $15 or more per cocktail. A dive bar, this is not. However, the quality and strength of the drinks, the attentiveness of the bartending staff, and the general friendliness of the people who frequent this spot make up for the higher prices. And as long as we\'re admitting things, ladies, this is the place to come up on a free drink. I have only ever paid for a drink once, during my first visit here back in the fall, when I was so excited that I marched right up to the bar without even a passing glance at my surroundings. Since that night, I have started mingling a bit more with the clientele before ordering, and I must say, it\'s saved me a pretty penny. Who are these clientele, you may ask? I\'ve found they are typically European tourists in-the-know, small groups of business school graduate students, pairs of people in town for work, and the occasional musician. And speaking of musicians, I\'m particularly fond of the band who plays here on Monday nights, the Chinatown All Stars. They perform everything from Cole Porter to Ginuwine, jazz and funk and ballads- and then around midnight a DJ steps in and spins the best from Stevie Wonder, The Whispers, Prince, and Funkadelic. Given the wealth of good music with no cover charge, Monday night really is when Apothéke is at its finest. So throw on somethin\' nice (the dress code is minimal, but does exist) and stroll on over to Apothéke. You won\'t regret it.

Bistro L'Oulette

Why not playing it fancy sometimes? Mövenpick is one of the Beirut 5 stars hotels, it's not in my habit to go in 5 stars hotel but well... I was offered an entrance to the spa there, and I must say I enjoyed my day and got rid of all my stress! Inside pool and outside garden with view on the sea, jacuzzi, hammam, herbal steam room, sauna, water beds to relax and fitness room. Nice place to chill on a lazy sunday, especially if the sun and the heat are here.

Three negative points though :

-even if you pay for the spa entrance, you can't access to the hotel swimming-pool and private beach, you're only allowed to go to the spa pool.
-you can't bring food in it even in the garden, so you have to get dressed again and go out if you want to eat. There isn't even an outside bar in the garden. Food and drinks inside Movenpick's bars are also really expansive. Count 10 dollars for a local beer. (well, what else would you except from a 5 stars hotel?). If you decide to go all day long and you don't want to spend to much money on food, bring your sandwich and go out of the hotel to eat it on the corniche.
-even if the location, pool, hammam and jacuzzi are cool and relaxing, the entrance is still expansive (according to my standards), 40 dollars for one person.

If you want to chill and do some sport there, don't forget your fitness clothes + sport shoes. And of course your fanciest bathsuite. Towels, bathrobe and slippers are included.
