Located along the street parallel to the main Istikal Caddasi, the café has a cozy environment, with decent food and prices and great staff. The interior was designed as if outdoors, with street lamps and benches. You can use their free wi-fi whilst enjoying a decent cup of traditional Chai tea for 1,50TL only. They also have cards, backgammon and other board games for you to play with your friends. Food wise, they have a great selection of home cooked dishes every night, and a tempting display of desserts. Try the chocolate cake, it was to die for. I also loved the carrot cake. I was there with 2 friends in May, 2012. We had to walk past Laterne Café every time we wanted to go out and every time we returned to our hostel. The three of us finally went in one weekday evening, and this guy greeted us with open arms, saying: “Long time! Every day I see you walk to and fro and to and fro, and finally today you come in.” He was so warm, and sat to talk with us. He also gave us free water and tea on that first night, and once again on the last afternoon we were there. A definite must-drop-by!
