The Japan Centre is kind of Japanese culture centre, right in the Picadilly, central London. I'm not fond of the shop because I have to admit I have never really got into the Japan culture, music, mangas or whatever. But there is one thing I love about Japan and it's the FOOD !! I started to love first sushis, sashimis and all kinds of skewer, before I learn about truly traditionnal japanese meals. I'm talking about what people eat over there and not the exported stuff adapted to westerners taste. My favourite meal is the Katsudon, which is (according to Wikipedia) : "a bowl of rice topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet, egg, and condiments". That's a simple meal but so tasty and awesome ! I've eaten Katsudon in a lot of different places across Europe and to me the best one was in the Japan Centre, London. I've never been to Japan (unfortunately) but some friends who did agreed that he was quite close to a better than average Katsudon in Japan.
Of course, you have a lot more meals at the Japan Centre, including : Ramens (soup), Gyozas (dumpling), Katsu Curry... And of course the usual sushis, makis and sashimis but made out excellent products.
The prices are really decent and you can usually have a full lunch for less than 20£ (i.e. starter+meal+soft drink). A Katsudon is 9,5£ for instance. And if you have a glass of tap water with it, that's all it will cost you to have a perfect filling lunch/dinner at the Japan Centre :)
