I‘ve always been a dog person. Dogs seem calm around me. And since I can’t travel with a dog of my own, I’m never bothered by curious dogs when I’m on the road.

Dogs are always amusing: around the world, they all live the same life. Looking for food. Looking for a friend. Looking to play. Always getting into trouble.
On leashes or on the street, dogs always seem to pose for me. Better than postcards or souvenirs, I collect photographs of dogs from my travels around the world.
My four-legged friends.
Enjoy.

Love the cute puppies from Laos!
Very cute, Daniel!
A girl I traveled with through Central America was TERRIFIED of dogs, and they (naturally) knew it. So we spent half our trip walking the long way around particularly shabby-looking mutts. I got my best Spanish swear words out of the experience though…
Best part about the dogs in Laos, was that my travel doctor told me to stay far away from street dogs. But they’re harmless. Just hungry, curious.
Awesome photos, I always wonder who has it better or worse, dogs in developing countries who are free and get fed by some street vendor or dogs who get pampered but are alone all day in say North America.
Used to have a dalmatian, pleasant memories!
I love those pics Daniel!
They remind me of a book by Jean Rolin, Un chien mort après lui (A dead dog after him). You could have made the cover (at least):)
Jean Rolin is a great journalist, a reporter and his book is a collection of travel stories, his investigations on wild dogs during his reports or personal trips. Really awesome.
I found this PDF on google, whith one of the story translated in english:www.institutfrancais.com/adpf-publi/fiction/FF04_Rolin_ANG.pdf
Daniel – as a fellow 4-legged friend fan, this made my day – and inspired me to take more photos of my favourite pooches through my travels. They are always the best models.
Daniel…Charlotte,my daughter sent your blog on to me as I am a great lover of the 4-legged kind!Your photo’s are great! The dogs seem to be speaking to the camera..I am in complete agreement with your statement!Continue on with your lovely photos…
Thanks for all the views and comments.
Rob: Your question on dogs echoes my sentiment toward dogs at home and abroad. I live next to the humane society in Toronto and see beaten-down, neglected, hungry or over-fed dogs every day. Some of my photos are of loved dogs on leads, some of scrappy street dogs who could end up being dinner themselves. One thing is fore sure, dogs around the world are all just looking for friends, food and a little trouble. They’re animals, but can’t always fend for themselves….
Ben: Thanks for the link. Hope to see you soon. I’ve been told I should put together a dog book. We’ll work on it together mate. My pictures, your creative vision in publishing. Probably won’t win me a Pulitzer though…
Charlotte: Miss you pal. Never stop taking pictures. Or writing. Blogging. Thanks for your kind words. You should contribute to Hejorama!
Marcia: Thanks for checking us out. I wish I had the creative genius of your daughter. But, she has certainly always inspired me, and encouraged me to travel and do what I love: take pictures. Check back soon for more.
Oh, I love dogs so much. I love all these dogs and I’d love to be able to sit next to them and tell them quietly how lovely they are.
My best friend only lasted 14 years and I miss her every day. I miss her smell, her snore, the way her head fitted into the palm of my hand, the way her ears felt, her bumpy eyebrows, her lumpy face, her licks and her sighs.
Thanks for capturing such lovely dogginess.
Great photos! I love the scrappy lookin’ fella in the last shot.
A lovely collection, Daniel. We tend to collect puppies. I don’t normally like dogs, but I make an exception for puppies because my son adores them.
oh I love these pictures! Especially the last one and the one from Montreal.
Lovely shots. I’m both a dog and a cat lover. My apartment in Korea is too small for a dog, so I have a cat. If I had a bigger place, I’d have one of each :)
Love your photos! I’m currently living in Costa Rica, brought my dog here – it’s doggie paradise!
Hey all. Glad you’ve enjoyed. Erin, Nancie, Yvonne, Theodora, Raymond and The Dropout – you all have fantastic blogs. Keep traveling, and stay in touch with us at Hejorama. And stay tuned. I’ve seen many dogs in my travels – will publish again soon. :)
The dog with the bike in Belize was my dog Jack. I am the director of the Humane Society on Caye Caulker and he was a rescue dog I had for 6 years. We loved him dearly loved him. While we were gone to the States for 6 weeks we left him in the care of a sitter that did not recognize the symptoms of tic fever which is very treatable. Sadly he died two days before our return. I have copied your photo to my photo album, hope thats OK, Thank you for such a great picture.

Hi,
Thanks for putting up a picture of me. I’m the black and white one, chewing your ear. That must have been about three years ago. I’m nearly seven, now, and all’s well. Ziggy says “Hi”, too. He’s not that shy, although he’s hiding behind me in your pic.
Lotsalicks,
Ellie
Ellie! A certainly remember you. Two beautiful dogs who were curious to say hello on a gorgeous day.
I love these photos – these dogs have so much personality
