The Monday Map: No MacDonalds Countries

MacDonalds Map

You might have already seen this map as it was shared quite a lot on the main social networks. But I still wanted to add it our Monday Map series as I found it well designed and interesting.

This map shows in blue all the countries that don’t have MacDonalds restaurants on their territories. I don’t know what you expected but it’s a lot more that what I thought. Obviously we all heard about how they had decided to leave Iceland when it went bankrupt. But apparently that happened also in Bolivia, Jamaica and Iran. But in Iran, they actually had to close for political reasons.

Equally surprising is the list of countries that actually have MacDonalds which I didn’t expected. For instance, they managed to install an outlet in Iraq (in the Green Zone), Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

One related question comes to my mind, are there any countries with no Irish pubs?
